Have you seen a more eyecatching construction gate? Look out for Riku Ounaslehto’s illustrations in Kamppi, Helsinki
If you’ve walked around Helsinki in the Kamppi area recently, you might have taken note of this electric blue wall illustration that spans across over a hundred meters. Commissioned by the City of Helsinki and created by Napa Agency’s talented Riku Ounaslehto, this illustration covers nearly half of the 300-meter long construction site wall. The decorated wall offers the viewer meters of art to marvel over! Behind the wall will emerge the new Kamppi Health and Well-being Center by 2028.
The goal for the construction site wall was to depict the diverse and versatile services offered by the upcoming health and well-being center as well as the professionals working there while keeping the visuals warm and homely. Agency’s star illustrator Riku Ounaslehto fulfilled the City of Helsinki’s wishes and illustrated the citizens of Helsinki and the healthcare professionals partaking in the environment and the services provided by the center.
As part of the fruitful collaboration of the City of Helsinki and Napa Agency, Riku Ounaslehto created illustrations which have a warm feeling while bursting with details. The construction site wall is quite unique as it reflects the future of the surrounding area as well as the upcoming health and well-being center through the means of illustration. At the same time the piece depicts the points of views of both citizens and healthcare professionals of the capital of Finland.
The artwork illustrates well-being of the residents, customer encounters, healthcare professionals at work as well as the daily life around the area through 8 lively scenarios. The viewer can find moments of joy and well-being of the city dwellers both young and old from a variety of backgrounds.
We want to thank the City of Helsinki for this project and congratulate the Social Services, Health Care and Rescue Services Division for being a vanguard of decorated construction walls in Helsinki! It’s amazing to be part of this – together with illustrators and bringing color to our city!
