Helsinki’s central library Oodi will host the Tolkien event for the first time on International Tolkien Day on Friday, March 25, from 4 to 9 p.m. As a real Tolkien fan, illustrating Oodi’s event was a dream come true for Jenna Kunnas!

“I’ve been a fan of Tolkien’s world since I was a kid, and that’s why this was quite a dream job. Illustrating is always storytelling, and making the illustrations for Oodi Tolkien Week was an opportunity to create a new little story for a world that is familiar and dear to me and many others.”

Jenna’s illustrations often have topics from nature, such as trees and deep moods, which were also the starting points for this illustration work. Inspiration was sought from imagination and Middle-Earth knowledge, as well as J. R. R. Tolkien’s personal relationship with nature.
